1967 – 25 Cents Quarter Canada – Bob Cat

The 1967 Canadian 25 cents quarter was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. It features a special design by artist Alex Colville on the reverse side, depicting a prowling bobcat symbolizing “intelligent independence and decisive action.” The obverse shows the laureate bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara with the inscription “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA.” This quarter is notable for having two silver content varieties issued during the year—one with 80% silver and the other with 50% silver—due to rising silver prices, but both look the same to the naked eye. The coin weighs 5.83 grams, has a diameter of 23.88 mm, and a reeded edge. It is non-magnetic and was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint as a circulation coin with a mintage of 48,855,500 pieces.
