The 1983 Canadian 10-cent coin, also called a dime, is made of pure nickel, weighing 2.07 grams with a diameter of 18.03 mm and a reeded edge. It features on the obverse a bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara, designed by Arnold Machin, while the reverse shows a stylized image of the Bluenose schooner sailing, designed by Emanuel Hahn. The coin is magnetic due to its nickel composition and was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint with a circulation mintage of over 111 million. Its orientation is medal alignment, with the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA” on the obverse and “CANADA 1983 10 CENTS” on the reverse. The 1983 dime falls into the typical circulation strike category but also exists in uncirculated, specimen, and proof finishes.
