This coin was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint with a composition of 80% silver and 20% copper, weighing 11.66 grams, having a diameter of 29.72 mm, and a reeded edge. It was produced in a mintage of 9,377,676 coins and is nonmagnetic. The coin design was by Mary Gillick (obverse) and Thomas Shingles (reverse), and it was part of the regular circulation issues of that time.​
