The Polaroid 900 Electric Eye is a Type-40 instant roll film camera produced between 1960 and 1963, notable for being the first Polaroid camera with fully automatic exposure control through its “Electric Eye” system, which uses a CdS cell to automatically adjust shutter speed and aperture for correct exposure. It features a 130mm f/8.8 three-element glass lens, an electrically controlled shutter with speeds from 1/12 to 1/600 seconds plus bulb mode, and a coupled single-window viewfinder/rangefinder with automatic parallax compensation. Designed for roll film now discontinued, it was easy to operate with mostly automatic settings aside from some manual controls for specialized situations, and had accessories like a wink flash and auxiliary flash. Despite its weight and bulk, it was highly regarded for its advanced automatic exposure and solid build, designed by Walter Dorwin Teague.
