Its obverse features a bust of King George VI with the inscription “GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX,” designed by Thomas Humphrey Paget, while the reverse shows two maple leaves on the same twig, a design created by G. E. Kruger-Gray. This coin had a large mintage of over 80 million and was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa.
