1932 – 5 Cents Canada – Near 2

The 1932 Canadian 5 cent coin “Near 2” variety features the bust of King George V on the obverse with no rim denticles or beads, and on the reverse two maple leaves below the date. The “Near 2” designation refers to the placement of the “2” in “1932” being very close to an imaginary line drawn between the lowermost points of the bottom maple leaves, making it distinct from the “Far 2” variety where the “2” is farther away. This coin is made of nickel, weighs 4.54 grams, has a diameter of 21.21 mm, and a plain edge. It was struck by the Royal Mint with a mintage of about 3,198,566 circulation coins and designed by Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal (obverse) and William Henry James Blakemore (reverse).
