It features on the obverse the bust of King George VI, designed by Thomas Humphrey Paget, with the inscription “GEORGIVS VI D : G : REX ET IND : IMP :,” signifying “George VI, by the grace of God, King and Emperor of India.” The reverse, designed by George E. Kruger-Gray, carries the iconic design of two maple leaves on the same twig, a symbol that has come to represent Canada.
