The 1984 Canadian 25-cent coin, commonly called a quarter, features on its obverse the bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara, designed by Arnold Machin, while its reverse displays the iconic caribou head designed by Emanuel Hahn. It is made of nickel with a mass of 5.07 grams and a diameter of 23.88 millimeters, having a reeded edge and a medal alignment. Minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, over 119 million circulation coins were produced that year. The coin bears the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA” on the front and “CANADA 25 CENTS 1984” on the back. Circulated examples typically show some wear, but uncirculated or proof specimens are more valuable to collectors, with uncirculated versions valued at around $1.50 to $1.75 CAD and proof coins worth about $3.50 CAD, although rare errors can command much higher prices.
