The 1988 Canadian 10 cents coin, minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, is composed entirely of nickel and has a weight of 2.07 grams, a diameter of 18.03 mm, and a thickness of 1.16 mm with a reeded edge. It features on the obverse a bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara, designed by Arnold Machin, and on the reverse, a stylized image of the famous Bluenose schooner sailing, designed by Emanuel Hahn. The coin’s legend includes “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA” on the obverse and “CANADA 1988 10 CENTS” on the reverse, with magnetic properties due to its nickel composition. In 1988, about 163 million of these dimes were minted for circulation.
