1992 – 25 Cents Quarter Canada – Newfoundland Commemorative Coin

The 1992 Canadian 25-cent Newfoundland coin, part of the Confederation 125th Anniversary series, depicts a Grandy Dory, a small wooden fishing boat commonly used in Newfoundland, especially in the town of Grand Bank where over 3,000 were built to support both bank and shore fishermen. The coin’s obverse features Queen Elizabeth II at age 64, wearing a new crown, with the Latin inscription “ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA,” designed by Canadian artist Dora de Pédery-Hunt. This coin is composed of 99.9% nickel, weighs 5.05 grams, and measures 23.88 mm in diameter. It was issued in brilliant uncirculated finish, celebrating Newfoundland’s heritage within Canada’s 125th Confederation anniversary series of provincial quarters released in 1992.
