2009 – 25 Cents Quarter Canada – Cindy Klassen Uncolored Commemorative Coin

The 2009 Canadian 25-cent coin featuring Cindy Klassen commemorates her outstanding achievement of winning five medals at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, a feat voted by fans as the #3 Canadian Winter Olympic Games Moment of all time. Designed by Jason Bouwman, the reverse of the coin depicts speed skater Cindy Klassen with a maple leaf in the background and the logo of the Canadian Olympic Committee. The obverse features a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the inscription “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA.” The coin is composed of copper-plated steel with a mintage of about 19 to 22 million pieces, some of which were issued with a brilliant red-colored maple leaf and released in circulation as well as in special rolls.
