2022 – 2 Dollars Toonie Canada – Summit Series Color

The 2022 Canadian $2 coins commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Summit Series feature a design by Joel Kimmel that depicts two hockey players representing Team Canada from the iconic 1972 Canada-U.S.S.R. hockey series. The reverse of these coins showcases the players charging against a vivid red maple leaf on the team jersey, with the words “THE SERIES LA SÉRIE” and “50 YEARS ANS” framing the scene. Surrounding the inner core are the coaches’ initials and jersey numbers of the players to symbolize Team Canada’s spirit. These coins are partially colorized with red accents on the jersey, gloves, socks, and maple leaf, adding a vibrant commemorative touch. The coins are uncirculated with a limited mintage of 250,000 and carry the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt on the obverse. Two million of the three million minted coins feature the colored inner core, and they were released to celebrate a historic moment of unity and pride in Canadian sports history.​
