2024 – 1 Dollar Loonie Canada

The 2024 Canadian 1 dollar coin, commonly known as the “loonie,” features the traditional design introduced in 1987 with the image of a common loon on the reverse side, a bird emblematic of Canada, designed by Robert-Ralph Carmichael. This particular 2024 edition is notable for having the effigy of King Charles III on the obverse, marking the new monarch’s first appearance on the coin, designed by Steven Rosati. The coin maintains its distinctive 11-sided Reuleaux polygon shape, with a diameter of 26.5 mm, and it is composed of a three-ply brass-plated steel material weighing 6.27 grams.
