The 1918 Canadian 10 cents coin, also known as the dime, features a bust of King George V on the obverse side, designed by Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal. The reverse side displays a crown above 22 maple leaves on two boughs attached with a ribbon, designed by William Henry James Blakemore. The coin is made of sterling silver, consisting of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, with a diameter of 18.03 mm and a weight of 2.32 grams. It has a reeded edge and was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa. The obverse legend reads “GEORGIVS V DEI GRA : REX ET IND : IMP :” and the reverse is inscribed with “10 CENTS CANADA 1918.” This coin was part of the circulation series and had a mintage of 5,133,602 pieces. It holds both numismatic and intrinsic silver value with a melt value of around CAD 3.91 as of 2025.
