The Federal Fed-Flash is a vintage camera from the 1940s and 1950s designed for the 127 roll film format, producing eight exposures sized 1-5/8 by 2-1/2 inches; it features a fixed-focus 64mm f/15 achromatic meniscus lens, a built-in flash synchronization with a Federal “Flash-matic” shutter at 1/40 sec speed, an eye-level viewfinder, and was manufactured in the United States by Federal Manufacturing & Engineering Corporation of Brooklyn, New York. Despite its name, the flash unit was an optional accessory, not included with the camera, which was constructed mainly of Bakelite and became popular for its simplicity and portability during its production era.
