The inscription on the obverse reads “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA,” while the reverse is marked with “5 CENTS CANADA 1971,” flanked by two maple leaves. This coin was minted in a quantity of 27,312,609 pieces by the Royal Canadian Mint and is composed entirely of nickel, making it magnetic. It was issued primarily for circulation, but uncirculated and specimen finishes also exist.
