The 1994 Canadian 10-cent coin, also known as the dime, features the iconic Bluenose schooner on its reverse side, symbolizing Canada’s maritime heritage and the significance of the fishing industry. Designed by Emanuel Hahn from photos of the famous schooner, the Bluenose image has been used since 1937. The obverse side of the coin bears the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in right profile, created by Dora de Pedry-Hunt, with the inscription “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA” and a small Royal Canadian Mint maple leaf privy mark beneath the bust. The coin is made of 99.9% nickel, weighs 2.07 grams, has a diameter of 18.03 mm, and is 1.22 mm thick. In 1994, Canada minted approximately 145.8 million of these coins, which have a reeded edge.
