The 1998 Canadian 5 cents coin features the classic beaver design created by G.E. Kruger-Gray, which has been in use since 1937. The coin’s reverse depicts a beaver sitting on a wood log above the inscription “CANADA,” with the face value of 5 cents flanked by maple leaves. The obverse side shows the right profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, adorned with a circular diamond crown decorated with roses, shamrocks, and thistles. The coin is composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, has a diameter of 21.2 mm, weighs 4.6 grams, and carries a brilliant uncirculated (BU) finish. It was minted in large quantities, with over 156 million produced in 1998. This coin represents the enduring Canadian heritage through the symbol of the industrious beaver, an important national icon.
