2000 – 25 Cents Quarter Canada – Wisdom Commemorative Coin

The 2000 Canadian Wisdom commemorative quarter, part of the Millennium series, was designed by Cezar Şerbănescu and issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. It features the image of an elderly person symbolizing the last millennium, sharing the Canadian heritage, represented by the maple leaf, with the new millennium represented by youth. The coin is inscribed bilingually with “CANADA” and “WISDOM 2000 SAGESSE” around the design. This quarter was one of twelve unique quarters released between 1999 and 2000, each reflecting different themes important to Canada’s heritage and future. The obverse of the coin shows Queen Elizabeth II wearing a new crown, designed by Canadian artist Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The coin has a face value of 25 cents and was minted in nickel with a magnetic property, measuring 23.88 mm in diameter, featuring a reeded edge, and was intended both for circulation and collector purposes.
