The Canadian 5-cent coins made in 2000 come in two main varieties: the standard version (cupro-nickel, 75% copper and 25% nickel, 4.6 g, 21.2 mm diameter, non-magnetic) and the distinctive “P” variant (copper-plated steel, 3.95 g, 21.1 mm diameter, magnetic), both featuring a smooth edge and the iconic beaver-on-log reverse designed by G. E. Kruger-Gray and the obverse with Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pédery-Hunt; the standard coin had a mintage of over 105 million, while only about 4.9 million of the “P” version were issued, both struck by the Royal Canadian Mint with the reverse legend “5 CENTS CANADA 2000” and medal alignment.
