The 2004 Canadian St. Croix “P” coin is a 25-cent circulation coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first French settlement on St. Croix Island (1604–2004). It features an uncrowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt on the obverse, inscribed with “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA,” and on the reverse, a 17th-century sailing ship designed by Robert R. Carmichael, surrounded by the dates “1604-2004” and “CANADA.” The coin is made of copper-plated steel (94% steel, 3.8% copper, 2.2% nickel), weighs 4.4 grams, measures 23.88 mm in diameter, is magnetic, and has a reeded edge. The mintage for this St. Croix variety was 15,400,000, and it was issued primarily for circulation.
