The 2017 Canadian 10-cent coin, commemorating Canada’s 150th anniversary, features a unique reverse design titled “Wings of Peace,” created by Amy Choi of Calgary, Alberta. The reverse showcases an airborne maple leaf forming the wings and tail of a delicately outlined dove holding the leaf in its beak, symbolizing hope, peace, and good faith. The obverse bears the uncrowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, with the inscription “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA.” The coin is made of nickel-plated steel, weighs 1.75 grams, has a diameter of 18.03 mm, a reeded edge, and is magnetic. About 20 million of these circulation coins were minted by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of a national contest celebrating Canada’s achievements and character during its first 150 years.
