The 2018 Canadian uncolored $2 coin commemorating the Armistice of 1918 features a reverse design by Canadian artist Laurie McGaw, marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. The coin’s inner core, made of brass-plated aluminum bronze, displays a soldier’s helmet symbolizing the war’s end and a large poppy representing remembrance, both solemn reminders of the sacrifices made during the conflict. The nickel-plated outer ring is engraved with two additional poppies and includes a banner with the bilingual words “REMEMBER” and “SOUVENIR” along with the year “2018,” underscoring the theme of remembrance in both English and French.
