The Canadian 25 cents coin from 1978 is made entirely of nickel, weighs 5.07 grams, and measures 23.88 mm in diameter with a reeded edge and magnetic properties. It features two varieties: the more common “large denticles” (120 rim teeth) and the scarcer “small denticles” (148 rim teeth). The obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin, while the reverse—designed by Emanuel Hahn—shows the iconic left-facing caribou head with the denomination between its antlers and the date to the right.
