The 2015 Canadian 10-cent coin, commonly called the dime, features the iconic Bluenose schooner, a symbol of Canada’s maritime heritage, on its reverse side. It is made of copper-plated steel (92% steel, 5.5% copper, 2.5% nickel), with a diameter of 18.03 mm, a thickness of 1.22 mm, and weighs 1.75 grams. The obverse displays an uncrowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Susanna Blunt. The coin has a reeded edge and is magnetic. The standard circulating mintage for the year was about 112.5 million. In addition to the regular circulating coin, the Royal Canadian Mint also issued a special 5-ounce pure silver 10-cent coin with selective 24-karat gold plating, featuring the same Bluenose design but much larger in diameter (65 mm) and weight (157.6 grams), limited to just 1,500 pieces for collectors.
