2020 – 2 Dollars Toonie Canada – Bill Reid Color

The 2020 Canadian $2 coins honoring Bill Reid feature the design called “Xhuwaji, Haida Grizzly Bear,” created by the renowned Haida artist Bill Reid to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. There are two versions of this circulation coin: one uncoloured with an engraved design, and a second selectively coloured version enhanced with red, white, and black on the reverse side, reflecting the traditional Haida art palette. The design extends from the core onto the outer ring, which includes two maple leaf images and a banner with “BILL REID” inscribed, while 2020 is set between two security marks of maple leaves. The obverse side bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The coloured edition captures the bold, cultural spirit of the Haida grizzly bear with a striking use of traditional Haida colors, making it a significant collectible commemorating Indigenous art in Canada.​
