The 2000 Canadian 25-cent coin titled “Creativity” was part of the Millennium Coin Design Contest by the Royal Canadian Mint. Designed by Eric (Kong Tat) Hui, this coin features a scene symbolizing an artistic insight spanning three millenniums. The coin’s obverse shows Queen Elizabeth II at 64 years old, wearing a new crown, in a design by Canadian artist Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The reverse design is surrounded by bilingual inscriptions “CANADA” and “CREATIVITY 2000 CRÉATIVITÉ” reflecting the theme of creativity as a forward-looking concept into the new millennium. The coin was issued as a proof sterling silver version and presented in a special display case with a certificate of authenticity.
