2012 – 25 Cents Quarter Canada – Tecumseh Colored Commemorative Coin

The 2012 Tecumseh commemorative quarter from Canada is a 25-cent coin issued as part of the “Heroes of the War of 1812” series to honor Shawnee Chief Tecumseh, a celebrated Indigenous leader who fought heroically during the War of 1812 in hopes of establishing an independent homeland for his people. Designed by Bonnie Ross, the coin features an image of Tecumseh set against an intricately engraved background with the words “The War of 1812” in both English and French, along with the Government of Canada War of 1812 logo composed of stylized “1812” typography, a maple leaf, and crossed swords. The obverse bears the uncrowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is composed of 94% steel, 3.8% copper, and 2.2% nickel plating, weighs 4.4g, measures 23.88mm in diameter, and was minted in both regular and colored editions for general circulation by the Royal Canadian Mint, with a total mintage of up to 12,500,000
