2015 – 2 Dollars Toonie Canada – Remember

The 2015 Canadian $2 coin, known as the “Remember” Toonie, was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the writing of the iconic poem “In Flanders Fields” by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae. The coin features a design by Canadian artist Glen Loates on the reverse side, depicting Lt.-Col. McCrae writing the poem on the battlefield surrounded by crosses and poppies, with larks flying overhead. The coin has the words “REMEMBER” and “SOUVENIR” flanking the year 2015 on the outer ring. It is bi-metallic with an outer ring of multi-ply nickel plated steel and an inner core of multi-ply brass plated aluminum bronze, weighing 6.92 grams with a diameter of 28mm. This circulation coin honors both the poem and the memory of the soldiers who fought in World War I, reflecting deep Canadian respect for remembrance and heritage.​
