1991 – 5 Cents Canada

The Canadian 5 cents coin minted in 1991 is composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, weighs 4.6 grams, and has a diameter of 21.2 mm. The obverse features the right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription “ELIZABETH II D – G – REGINA,” while the reverse showcases a beaver sitting on a wood log above the word “CANADA,” with the coin’s value of “5 CENTS” flanked by maple leaves. The beaver motif by G.E. Kruger Gray is an iconic design that has appeared on Canada’s five-cent coins since 1937. In 1991, the Canadian Mint produced 10,931,000 of these coins for circulation.
