The 2002 Canadian 25-cent coin commemorating Canada Day celebrates the 135th anniversary of Canadian Confederation and Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee. The coin, designed by Judith Chartier and Stan Witten, features small human figures supporting a large maple leaf symbolizing national pride and unity, with the “1952-2002” dates referencing the Queen’s Jubilee. The obverse shows Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy designed by Canadian artist Dora de Pédery-Hunt. Made of 94% steel with nickel plating, the 4.4-gram coin has a diameter of about 23.88 mm and was issued in brilliant uncirculated condition. The colorful design was meant to evoke optimism and joy reflecting Canada’s spirit.
